Alone Together I & II are panoramic views of Newfoundland landscape scenes, taken along the roads and highways that crisscross the province; glimpses caught out of a car window. These two scenes are of Exit 37, a specific over-pass on the Trans-Canada Highway. Curator Bruce Johnson writes "The Trans-Canada Highway and its spawn of roadways is possibly the icon of contemporary Newfoundland. It is the sign of our move away from coastal economies, based in bays and boats and from a direct involvement with the natural world, to one more managed."
